- In terms of ethnic groups, the composition is as follows: mestizos and whites 91%; blacks or Afro-Colombians 8%; Amerindian or indigenous 0.5%; other races 0.5%.
- By age, 17.8% are under 14 years old, 70.32% are between 15 and 64 years old, while the population of older adults reaches 11.88%.
- For every 53 females there were 47 males.
- The life expectancy of an inhabitant of Medellín is 78.2 years (79.6 years for women and 76.9 years for men).
