Itinerary

Visit the Electricity Museum: The Light That Transformed Medellín. Discover, at the former Piedras Blancas hydroelectric plant, through photographs, models, and original artifacts, how electricity went from being a luxury to a right. This was the first place in Medellín where the lightbulb went on, revealing the story of how electricity reached the city's neighborhoods.
Coffee break with a view of the macromural: Camino a Casa (Homeward Bound). Enjoy a coffee served in a traditional cup, admiring the Constellations mural in all its splendor. It's an opportunity for a pause, a memorable photo, or to experience the essence of the neighborhood, served by locals from Manrique who will greet you with a smile (they also speak English).
Tasting at Chocó con Amor: Flavors of the Pacific in Manrique. At Mélida Asprilla and her daughter Telma's restaurant, sample authentic Afro-Colombian Pacific cuisine: caramañolas (fried stuffed yucca), fried fish with crispy plantains, and homemade guacamole seasoned with coastal flavors. Each dish tells stories of migration, resilience, and love, offering comforting flavors.
Visit the Blue Beetle: Neon Forest. Explore this Instagrammable space, home to the tourist green corner, with blue, red, and purple fluorescent lights hanging among figures of elves and owls. Everything is painted with neon, creating a "fairy tale in the neighborhood" where urban art is three-dimensional and perfect for epic photos. Note: Entrance to the Neon Forest not included (approx. COP $10,000, subject to availability).
A visit to La Cuadra del Vaquero: Paisa tradition on the corner. Meet Luis Eduardo Bedoya, "El Vaquero," an icon of rural tradition. Although his sales have declined, Don Luis shares recipes for artisanal cheese arepas, anecdotes from his time, and occasionally, a free sample. He's the neighborhood grandpa everyone wishes they had.
Tour of the Constellations macromural: 15,000 m² of collective art. Walk among monumental murals while your guide reveals who the artists are (many from the same neighborhood), the meaning of each symbol, color, and face, how the project was born from the community, and the stories of resilience behind each wall. It's Manrique speaking, sharing his memories.

This is a different Medellín, one you don't see in brochures or documentaries. A more authentic and real one. It's a bit of a shock to your expectations, but by the end of the tour, it surpasses them because it helps you understand part of the city's recent history. A must-do experience.

This isn't a tour to raise funds or aid for the poor. It's an invitation to learn about a community that strives daily to get ahead and is proud of its origins, as evidenced by the spectacular murals that decorate the neighborhood.
