Trust the Cops!
Listen to the specific suggestions provided by the Medellín Police:
- ATM withdrawals or currency exchange: Carry out these transactions in shopping centers or department stores, never in ATMs or establishments located on the streets.
- Events or crowds: Keep your belongings in secure bags or pockets with zippers and always within your sight. Do not take out your passport unless you are going to perform banking operations or errands. Always keep a color copy for your movements.
- Bars or nightclubs: Never accept drinks from strangers, and when you are consuming your own, do not allow anyone to approach them or leave them out of your sight. This prevents someone from administering substances that could impair your will.
- Financial information: Don’t tell anyone about your activities or financial situation. No one cares, and divulging it could attract the attention of people with dark interests.

- Don’t wear jewelry or luxury items: You don’t need to show off luxury items on the streets. You’ll only get the attention of thieves. And that applies in any city in the world.
- In case of robbery: Stay calm and do not resist. Material objects can be replaced, but your life and physical integrity are irreplaceable. Hand over your belongings without resistance. Most thieves are looking for a quick and uncomplicated robbery; do not increase the risk of violence by resisting.
- Seek help immediately after the incident: As soon as it is safe to do so, move away from the place and seek help. Call the police to report the incident. If you are injured, request medical assistance immediately.
Remember, your safety starts with your mood and focus.
By applying these suggestions, you not only protect yourself from potential risks but also open yourself up to a richer and more satisfying travel experience.
Travel with confidence, joy, and an open mind to the wonders of each new place.
